We understand that building a custom home is a significant investment, and you likely have many questions about the process. This section is designed to provide you with clear and concise answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our services, customization options, timelines, warranties, and more.
Where do you build?
While we do build in a few select communities primarily in Johnson County, Kansas, we are able to build in most neighborhoods around the Kansas City metro area, or on individually owned lots. Please contact us for more specifics to get started on your new construction.
How long does it take to build a home?
The time it takes to build a home depends on various factors such as the size and complexity of the plan and/or design, whether or not we encounter any material shortages or delays, or any scope of work changes throughout the build. Typically when building a Shepard Homes established floor plan, it can take anywhere from a 6 months to a year depending on the level of customization and size of home. If you’re looking to custom build a home, there will be more time necessary for the design process.
Do you offer customization options?
Yes, we offer a range of customization options to suit your preferences and needs. Whether you’re wanting to add an accent wall, make modifications to the floor plan, or start fresh with a new home plan, there is nothing we love more than creating a home that is most fitting to your family. Our team will work closely with you to ensure your new home reflects your unique style.
What is the warranty on your homes?
We take great pride in our craftsmanship and stand by the quality of our homes. That’s why we offer a one-year workmanship warranty on all of our homes. We believe it’s important for each house to experience a full cycle of all four seasons, allowing us to ensure that everything meets our high standards throughout the year. Your satisfaction and peace of mind are our top priorities.
Can I visit the construction site?
We completely understand the excitement of seeing a new home take shape and want to ensure everyone’s safety. Depending on the stage of the build process, there are certain dangers on a job site, so we encourage our homeowners to schedule walk throughs with one of our team members, or wait until we have proper safety measures in place.
